Family Guy Online: Preview of the World’s First MMLOL - Part 1
A Tour of the Lovely Quahog
On our circuit throughout the city of Quahog, we encountered quite the number of quest givers. On nearly every corner we met characters who are just waiting to chat with us. Most of them even had something for us to do. As long as we reached the appropriate level for the quests, we were able to accept them and go about our business. Every character we encountered has a standard phrase that they say when we first approached, but when we clicked on them to receive our quest, the details of the quest were laid out as well as what we would be getting as a reward. With every quest that we completed, we received experience points and other little items that made our adventures in Quahog easier.
Even our character slowly started to become more like the other folks of Quahog – like when we were just enjoying a walk around the town and we got to use our first talent… an armpit fart. Yeah, you read that right. This wonderfully unique ability not only has a spectacular animation but life-like noises as well. Family Guy Online is all about bringing the TV series to live in a browser game, and has done a great job so far.
While in the city, whether we were on Spooner Street or right in the middle of downtown, we had the chance to collect a number of various items. In particular, there were an uncountable number of cats roaming the streets that we had to capture in a sack. Of course, Spooner Street and downtown are not the only locations we could go to – the city is quite large and there was still plenty of stuff for us to discover. The various areas of Quahog can be unlocked one after another and include places like Lake Quahog, James Woods and the Waterfront.
High-Class Whiskey and a Death
In Family Guy Online, we could see all of our skills in the menu and even put on our newly collected clothes and accessories. We really didn’t have to pay attention to our outfit too much because we often encountered uniquely clothed, or nearly completely naked, characters along the way.
The menu gave us an overview of all our completed and pending quests. This gave us the chance to decide what we wanted to do next, rather than following a pre-determined route.
There are also very strange in-game achievements in Family Guy Online. For example, our first death in the virtual world was titled “Death is a Bitch” – and indeed it was. Additionally, every player has the chance have their own collection of special items which have special themes. The “Brian” collection is made up of all of the things he loves and naturally, the very first item is a delicious, aged whiskey. Different places and people in Quahog also have collections.
Angry, Strange and Fascinating
Family Guy Online is the television series and more. For fans of the show, there are plenty of quips and quotes from the show that are instantly recognizable. Of course, the crass humor and rude jokes are all included. There are even video clips right from the show at the end of some missions.
When playing Family Guy Online, our character became an active part of the Quahog world. We ran through the city and saw all there was to be seen without any restrictions. The interaction we had with the various main characters from Family Guy made the experience all the better. For fans of the television series – this free-to-play browser game is a must. Since the Open Beta has already started, you all have the chance to experience the city of Quahog just like we did!
